The Bamboo Hidey-Hole

The Bamboo Hidey-Hole

It comes as something by surprise
Thick stand of tall black bamboo
Decision made to plant it and by who
Mind saw the end result how very wise
Unexpected imaginative thing to do
How came that thought there is no clue
A visitor now finds a hidden prize

In a bamboo block one finds a way
Small patch pulled out a secret cleared
Point to enter as a hidey hole appeared
Then stealing in to quietly play
Slowly in the circle now has veered
Lifelike path leads to a tear now cheered
Shady place holds dark fear at bay

Think not to hide and seek in there
Light falls not in the central heart
So do the wise their wisdom now impart
Stop now by the tiny table and chair
Impasse or peaceful moment to restart
Try not to be both horse and cart
A question set for those who care

The central plaque is engraved with the words;
'Never let your memories be greater than your dreams'
