Spending Our Days Instead of Counting the Years

Years ago our triathlon hero’s were all from the first group of people to make triathlon as famous as it is today. We watched the videos showing Mark Allen  in his famous battle with Dave Scott in Hawaii and of course Julie Moss heart breakingly crawling over the finish line. That got many more signing up for triathlon events. These days the name everybody knows is that of the Brownlee's and they are turning thousands of young people into triathletes and the sport is growing exponentially.

During to course of the film making yesterday with a group of mature students who worked hard to make a motivational documentary work for their purpose, one of their number surprisingly, even joined us on the spare bike for the turbo session. They seemed to want to stick it out until we were dripping sweat in a fairly convincing manner before calling a halt to proceedings for the day.

When the group finally left our house with all their equipment, Steve though it was an excuse to relax a little and looked through the list of movies that were showing at Cineworld in Chichester. Steve settled on John Wick 2 Having enjoyed Keanu Reeves appearance of Graham Norton recently. I poured a bucket of cold water on that idea because I pointed out that we had not seen the first John Wick film and should we not check that out on TV if he still had that in mind.

So Steve checked to see if we could catch that on Netflicks or Amazon Prime first and sure enough found that we could get the first film without going to Chichester and if it was good then we could catch the John Wick 2 movie in a week or so.

However Steve wanted to eat out because he thought we had both worked well during the day and deserved a Friday evening treat. We didn’t go further than our local, way in the lead, best pizza house; Prezzo in Arundel. We drove straight up there before it got too full and had a quick pizza, no starters and no dessert and with an offer of 30% off mains this week. There is always a pleasant welcoming greeting from the manager, we were shown to our preferred table, good service, good food, good offer and smart surroundings.

The evening did involve John Wick on TV and it was very entertaining if I suppose a bit of a Marvel Comic story. Keanu was great but we don’t think we need to see the mark II version in the cinema.

Having had a very busy and tiring day yesterday, we still went ahead with a Saturday turbo session this morning and to strike a difference we put on a video that had plopped through the door yesterday when I bought it due to it being a good special offer whilst I was buying a new Mini X speaker for the iPad. This purchase was due to the fact that Steve had dropped the old one in the bath and it had sadly died.

We are currently listening to Val McDermids (book 3) of the Tony Hill and Carol Jordan series, The Last Temptation we listen to it in the car and over dinner.

The new video that I had added to my basket, was a quite old version made for TV I think, of Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Really Useful company 2000 version of Jesus Christ Super Star. Neither Steve nor I have been to see this in the theatre and shame on us for that, I know I know, I know. But what we both know is that we would not be able to make it through to the crucifixion. That is something that we share among so many other thoughts between us. What a pair of softies eh?

This is a full blown rock opera and we and we quickly got into the fabulous production and enjoyed all the cast with an amazing variety of voice types and selection of wonderful faces. Glen Carter made a super star Jesus and Jérôme Pradon was an astonishingly brilliant Judas. The big production kept us pedaling along for and hour and a half, yet also caused us to turn it off before the clouds darkened. Yet again; its not a story that we have got so used to that it does not affect us any more.

Earlier we had been ready to get out on the road this morning for our Saturday ride but on checking with Accuweather decided not to since it said it would be mainly cloudy and still not that warm. Steve thinks that I should not get myself too cold considering my length of tooth these days. Maybe he is right, I confess to being a little more delicate these days but I’m not ready to be turned out to grass just yet.

I will be turned away from my desk pretty soon to get ready to go swimming this evening. Another good week of training in the money box. Here below is somebody who has been doing the same international races as us for about as long too. This is Geoff Gearing. I would have to check but I think he is even older that me if you can imagine that and may be in the 80-84 age group now and still turning those pedals. I'll message him on Facebook and ask.
