I am thinking about a friend
who is sad
And not just because of her
illness
It has spread to her lungs
and that is bad
Confusion disturbing her
stillness
Isn’t cancer enough to have
on your plate
Without cruel words from a
brother
A family feud bursts to full
spate
One person feels not for the
other
As disease continues its
spiteful invasion
Brave woman don’t lessen your
fight
Family tip the balance of an
equation
Yet still she battles with
all her might
As medical words become more
solemn
Deliberate betrayal is
family treason
Unfathomable thoughts a
spiteful column
Misguided behaviour way
beyond reason
I pray that my friend has
will to stay strong
Unkindness must mark the
unkindly
Forgiveness is purity against
this wrong
From shameful words spoken
so blindly
