Knepp Castle Estate Hike

After a soft bit of training at home first thing today, Steve suggested that we go and take a look around Knepp Castle Estate that is roughly twenty miles North of our home. Jacqueline my professional photographer daughter had been recently on missions of her own, and had recommended that we take a new look at the area because we had not been there for probably twenty-five year since the triathlon that was long ago held there was our club Championships.

The 3500 acre estate, was back in those days mainly arable and dairy farmland. However, in more recent years the estate began a re-wilding project and have allowed nature to reclaim much of the acreage that the public can now walk around and see animals running free. That was the big draw for Jacqueline who has taken some stunning photos of the deer of late and it was on her advice that we returned today to take a wonderful two hour hike the re-wilded land.

There are loads of other things going on to attract families there for Glamping, and wildlife safaris, wildlife shop and cafés. As we started out on our wander this morning there was a group of photographers who were just being briefed before setting off on a guided tour; or they may just have been having a competition to see who had the biggest lens or the most equipment from our brief scan as we passed them by.

When we got home I did my first experimental short walk with our little cat Birdy inside my coat. I had expected her to be restless but she didn't move a muscle but looked around in total amazement at the surprise treat.
