Littlehampton: Brainless new bus route

During the last week, I note that the builders of the massive housing estate north of the railway line have now been handed a get out of jail free ticket.
As of April 24th a new No. 15 hourly bus service has been introduced.

Starting from Littlehampton Swimming and Sports Centre, which circuitously travels an unbelievable route through the town to the new North Littlehampton Estate.
After passing the community tip, there is a turning point at Benjamin Gray Drive, Courtwick.

The worst part of the planning of this route is that once it turns off the A 259 Worthing Road into the other new-ish estate thereabouts.
On turning in to Olliver Acre, the bus then turns left into Holmes Way which is a tiny connecting road from the estate through to Toddington Lane.
When this new estate was built, the Toddington Lane junction on to that main road was closed forcing traffic through the new estate.

Holmes Way, is not wide enough for two cars to pass on the corners!
That alone is reason enough not to go that way.
The pavements are as wide as the road.
Now a Compass bus is using that little road, where path’s are full of children at school start and end times.

After the second turn into Toddington Lane, it then proceeds past Holly Drive into a blind zig-zag bend, which is actually right in front of our house.
Then there is a junction with Steele Crescent at the north end of that estate to the side of us.
Then over the railway crossing it goes and through the jungle of works vehicles and on a road lined with parked cars from the new housing there.
The route then continues to a turning point round Benjamin Drive, Courtwick.

Only a complete idiot could have planned this route and there will be carnage since accidents are just a matter of time.
If cars have difficulty passing in this narrow road how can a bus have been routed down there?
This service, so I believe is subsidised by the building contractors and Littlehampton Council.
Obviously people who have bought new homes need to get to work and take the kids to school.
However, there was a new road promised and there is no sign of it even starting yet.
I think the Council should halt the building work until the promises that got the planning permission are met.
It is now vital they should be start work to build road into the town from the new North Littlehampton Estate and out of it to the north.

I am sure all the issues that I have presented here are close to the hearts of Littlehampton people.
With the new tip opening hours drastically reduced causing miles of queues of waiting cars, how much must we take of this.
Please write to the Littlehampton Gazette and the council about this state of affairs.

Comfortably back in the saddle of my high horse.
